Submission Rules [As of May 25th, 2014]

General Submission Rules

The following rules apply to ALL folders, unless noted otherwise.
- Any skill level of work is accepted
- Must submit your OWN work, collaborations are okay. Staff members are exempted only if they have to re-submit another artist's work for organization reasons.
- Works must look COMPLETE. The exceptions are the Sketches, Lineart, and WIP folder and the advertisement folder.
- Works with 18+ content (Nudity, violence, gore, etc) must have the maturity filter.

Failure to follow these rules WILL result in your artwork to be decline, which takes up your submission slot for the week. In other words, please read the following carefully or ask a staff if you got questions.



Featured Folder

All pieces in the featured folder are up to the staff's decision. We feel as aspiring artists, everyone deserves a chance to get some viewership. However, there will be certain criteria for which pieces belong in the Featured folder.
- There must at least be a basic understanding of anatomy and shading if applicable.
- The piece preferably shows a unique idea or concept.
- We will be very restrictive on fan art. We wish to have artists viewed based off their original work, rather than just because of the characters drawn.
- Generally speaking, we will select works that don't have too many views or favorites.
- Nudity, violence, or any other tasteful subjects will only be allowed if they actually com positionally contribute to the piece.
- The piece follows all of Art's Unity submission rules



Folder Specific Outlines

Advertisement – All ART related services that you are offering to others can be put in this folder as journal entries. The folder will be heavily monitor for the content set towards these folders. These include, but are not limited to:
- Requests / Commissions
- Contests
- Art Trades
- Adoptable's
- Any other ART related announcements

Fan Art - Digital, Traditional, and Mixed – Any complete artwork that is based off a character, story, etc that is not created by you goes here. This folder includes:
- Characters from TV shows, movies, anime, manga, etc.
- Celebrities/characters portraying as a character from TV shows, movies, etc
- Other people’s original characters (OC’s) if it's well known (up to staff discretion)
- OC's that are based off a particular universe (Pokemon, Sonic, World of Warcraft, etc.)

The follow should NOT be sent to this folder:
- Digital/3D modeling
- Your original character (OC)
- Illustrations based just on celebrities
- Photographs of any kind
- Stories and other literature works
- Comic strips of any sort
- Pixel Art
- Stamps

Digital Art – Original - This folder is for artwork with digital mediums. This folder includes:
- HANDDRAWN  or vector digital artwork that DOES NOT belong to fan art
- Fractals are placed here.

Traditional Art – Original - This folder is for artwork with traditional. This folder includes:
- The work is 2-DIMENSIONAL or 3-DIMENSIONAL Look a-like (NOT SCULPTURES) Art
- Artwork done with traditional media that DOES NOT belong to fan art
- Photographs of traditional artwork is okay, but the staff may move it to Photography

Digitial and Traditional Hybrid - This folder is for non-fan art artwork that utilize both traditional materials and digital software as a drawing medium. This folder includes
- Artwork that  is digitally drawn with traditional techniques and materials still visible (for example Digitally painting over a picture of an already painted canvas)

The follow should NOT be sent to this folder:
- Pure Digital or Traditional works
- Fan Art
- Photographs or Photomanipulations

Photography – Artwork with an emphasis of capturing images is placed here This folder includes:
- The photo is UNEDITED or has FEW EDITS
- The photo itself is artwork, it's not just a showcase of a sculpture, etc.
- The photo is not a cosplay

Photomanipulation - Artwork based on heavily modified images are placed here. This folder includes:
- Photographs that are merged
- Artwork that is heavily modified from the original photograph
- Edits are MAJOR. A simple lens flare is not photomanipulation

Cosplay - Cosplay specific photographs belong here. This folder includes:
- Pictures of just the costume parts or accessories
- Pictures with the intent of just showcasing the costume
- A person dressing up in a cosplay

Original and Fan Comic strips, Comic Covers - Comic artworks that tell a story should be placed here. This folder includes:
- The artwork is a comic strip format , unless it’s the cover

3D modeling, Rendering - Any piece that is designed using a 3D modeling software should go here. This folder includes:
- Models you created
- Models posed with Daz, Poser, Garry’s Mod, Miku Miku Dance, or other software.

Sculpture/Handcrafts - Traditional 3D art will go here. This folder includes:
- Clay/Metal, or other materials.
- Any Textile made objects
- Or anything sculpted from natural or man-made materials.

Literature – All written work of any genre goes here. This folder includes:
- Any written works belong here, fiction or nonfiction.
- Written advertisements DON'T belong here!

Sketches/Lineart/WIP (Work in Progress) – Sketches will be placed into this folder. This folder includes:
- Digital Media
- Traditional Media
- Or any other medium’s you can think of!
This contains any piece in any material that is sketched or incomplete, up to staff's discretion

Pixel Art, Icon, Emotes – Digital pixel artwork is placed here. This folder includes:
- All DeviantArt icons belong here even if it is animated!
- Custom sprites and edited sprites belong here.

Stamps - All stamps belong here even if it is animated! This folder includes:
- DeviantArt Stamps, regardless of technique

Tutorials/Resources/Stocks/References – This folder is to help out other artists! The following is placed here:
- Art related tutorials of any kinds
- Stock photographs. Please state in the description the photo is a stock.
- Bases, or other pose references

Animated – “Moving pictures" generally go here. The following is required:
- No stamps, nor Deviant Art Icons!
- Artwork is either a flash movie, a .gif file, or anything that moves.

Misc. – This folder is closed for submission. However, if the staff notices a submitted piece that loosely fits any of the categories above, it will be moved or resubmitted here.
